Junior Director Opportunity – Stanstead County Agricultural Society

The Stanstead County Agricultural Society is pleased to announce the creation of a new Junior Director Seat with a two-year mandate, to be filled in 2026.

For details about the position’s role and responsibilities, please see the job description below.

About the Junior Director Role
An agricultural fair “Junior Director” is typically a young adult member of the Fair’s board who helps plan and run events under the guidance of senior directors.

Purpose of the Role
– Learn how the Agricultural Society and Fair are organized and governed.
– Offer a fresh perspective on activities, especially family- and child-friendly programming.
– Help build future leaders for the Fair and the local agricultural community.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
– Attend board meetings every 3rd Tuesday of the year and participate in discussions about Fair activities (as a non-voting member).
– Help plan and coordinate Fair events such as youth shows, games, demonstrations, and educational displays.
– Volunteer during the Fair: setup and teardown, registration, class marshalling, handing out ribbons or prizes, and assisting in show rings or activity areas.
– Promote the Fair and agriculture among other young people through schools, youth clubs, and on social media (as permitted by the Society).
– Support safety and conduct standards and follow all policies, including codes of conduct for young leaders.

Working with Senior Directors
– Act as a liaison between youth participants and the main board by sharing ideas, questions, and feedback from young exhibitors and visitors.
– Assist senior directors with distributing information, supporting competitions, and helping with workshops or demonstrations.
– Seek guidance from senior directors on rules, conflict resolution, and how to improve events for future years.
– Junior Directors will not make high-risk financial or legal decisions independently.

Good Practice Expectations
– Be prepared and on time for meetings and assigned shifts.
– Communicate clearly with fellow junior members and senior board members and represent the Fair positively in the community.
– Declare any conflicts of interest (for example, if helping to run a class where you or a family member are competing) and follow the board’s direction.

If you are between the ages of 18 and 30 and would like to volunteer with an experienced team to help promote agriculture and rural life in the Townships—by supporting the Fair and other Society activities—please send a letter of interest explaining why you’d like to join by May 1st, 2026 to infoexpoacfair1845@gmail.com
